When I was looking through some of the recent posts on the Cambridge ESOL South East Europe blog I told you about in my last post, I started reading about Cambridge English Penfriends.
I checked out the scheme on the Cambridge English Language Assessment website, and it looks very attractive.
Schools register to join the scheme, then Cambridge English puts two schools in touch. The idea is that students at the two schools design and share cards on a theme. (The current theme is Amazing Animals).
But why I am I trying to explain all these details, when the process is so well explained in the Cambridge ESOL penfriends leaflet!?
You never know, getting involved in this project may mean that like me, your students might form a lasting friendship with someone from another country. I am still in contact with my French exchange partner, Genevieve - our friendship has lasted more than 30 years.
Last year, we met up again at her daughter's wedding!
Hello.... hope you can help me ... I connected my private English school, here in Italy with a school in Mexico through the Cambridge pen friend scheme ... I was thinking of somewhere a little nearer but they asked and I accepted. The trouble being though that it took over a month for our letters to arrive .... so for example a few weeks to prepare them, a month to send them, another few weeks (sometimes longer) for the answers to be prepared and another month for them to arrive ... for the children (primary age) the times were just too long. We haven't heard from them now since March and I've connected the school personally and said stop BUT as my kids loved writing and receiving these letters I went back to the pen friend site to try and find another school to connect with but I can't as they say I'm 100% connected to another school already. So my question is how can I un-connect myself from the school in Mexico so we can start all over again with another school. I'm getting desperate!!!

I've sent your comment on to a person who I hope can help you out (and is based in Italy). I can understand your frustration! Let's hope we can work out a solution!
